The Annual DV Green Card Lottery. Here is the way it works:

  1. An eligible person is someone who is from a country that has low U.S. immigration. This person must meet other eligibility requirements, such as education level. Take our free eligibility test to see if you qualify.
  2. The lottery is conducted annually. A person can register only one time each year. An application must be perfectly submitted.
  3. From the eligible applicants, a computer randomly chooses the winners. The winners are notified the following year around June to July.
  4. The winners and their immediate families submit a formal request for Permanent Resident Visas (Green Cards). If the application is accepted, then the winner receives a Green Card. The winner's spouse, and his or her children who are age 21 or younger also receive their Green Cards.
